NEW YORK, United States – Workboard Inc, the US based strategy product announced that it has raised $9.3m in Series A funding from investors including Microsoft Ventures, bringing the total raised by the company to over $12m.
The problem that Workboard solves is a rather interesting one and it’s surprising it’s taken someone so long to build a solution which solves the problem in such a coherent way. Put simply, it aims to solve the problem of communicating and maintaining the strategic direction of a company.
Not sure what we mean? Well, if you currently work in a medium to large sized corporate or ever have done so in the past, you’ll know that strategy can sometimes take the form of a quarterly or annual Powerpoint deck which gets presented to the entire business and put in a folder for review at a later date. Workboard seeks to resolve this problem by transforming strategy from Powerpoint decks to living breathing, dynamic sets of data and results which can be continuously updated and fed back to the business.
To do this, the product offers a host of features and services designed to bring strategy to life and to align teams around strategy, including real time dashboards, goals and OKRs. It’s kinda like an engineering team dashboard but for your entire team. The Workboard API will also allow you to export data from tools like Jira and update progress completion dashboards so that you can keep stakeholders up to date with what’s happening and why.
“Workboard enables organizations to activate smarter strategies faster and make strategic priorities remarkably transparent and interactive. To gain and sustain advantage, companies must activate short-range strategic priorities, localize them to front-line teams, and measure results objectively to learn and iterate faster than ever before.”, CEO Deidre Paknad said in a statement.
Some of Workboard’s nifty features
- OKRs – objectives and key results are the drivers of many modern product organisations. Workboard embeds them into easy to share boards.
- Project alignments – ensure your team are working on relevant projects and building the appropriate product which solves the problems that align with your company goals.
- Collaboration – modern strategy development requires input from across the business and Workboard has collaboration tools built in so that you can get feedback from relevant parts of the business.
